Good Keski culture website?

Anyone know a good Keski culture website?

The homepage has no real stories---just a coupla standard PR's. The
photos they run there are tiny and don't work on my browsers anyway.
http://www.keskinada.com/en/cdr_en.htm

It's voted the best tourist event in Canada. So I'd think there's more
on it somewhere.

I tried to get to a good site that presents the Gatineau park in a good
light, giving lore, photos, etc., and only found the official govt
Gatineau site (linked to from the Keski site) that has basically this
level of info about the park: "There is a park. It's name is Gatineau.
It's very pretty."

I found a couple sites reporting the Keski race from the front with
maybe one pic, and one personal story with a couple pics.

What's going on? The horrors of socialist-style PR?

The CSM does quite a bit better, but not a whole lot---they have photo
pages going back a few years but for some reason only 2 pics out of the
dozen shown for each year will enlarge on my browsers.

ya, very sad, I agree ... praps the guys over at xcottawa.ca can help do something about that - a special Keski event link, for example, replete with photos, race stories, etc. Dont know if your familiar with their site - if your not, definitely check it out, best Gat park ski coverage site around. Could be wrong, but I think one of the guys on this board is affilitated with it (Craig??).

There's also http://www.musicianonskis.ca/, maybe the best Gat ski photography site, with pictures of 'ski life' in the park updated almost daily
(the girl doing the site has her priorities good and straight!).

Anyways, Jeff, I think those 2 sites are as good as you'll get to bringing the park to life online. Keski coverage could still use a boost though !

Give us a few days and check www.xcottawa.ca, where bringing out all of
our old Keski stuff and more for this years race. Also we will be
asking any skier who wants to submit a blurb about their Keski
experiences. Does this qualify as culture?

Jeff - I do agree the Keski site is a bit sterile. We should change that.

You also mention the CSM, Jeff.
I just noticed in my 'race' package that

www.xczone.tv/frames.htm

have a video out on that.
Have they beaten you to the punch?

I looked at this, but, frankly, was disappointed. I was expecting all
sorts of useful information for carrying musical instruments while
skiing. The well-meaning folks at my local violin shop were completely
clueless about this.

And, for all the pictures, I did not see a single picture that showed a
musical instrument. No one even seemed to be singing.

She plays the piano, which would have a bit of an effect on technique
if you tried to carry one. While there is nobody singing, the author
claims that a properly executed step turn on skate skis is in 6/8 time.

I've heard they have a new movie this year, touring festivals now.
Don't know what it's about.

I'm not looking to cover the Keski/CSM myself---just want to learn
more. Well, I do want to help promote them. I put up links to these
events already and their reputation is as 'must do' events especially
in terms of culture so they fit with the OYB mission.

I haven't skied them yet but I can tell they'd be sweet. Someday! I
just wanted to point people to good media about them.

Like, I know a few hardcore do-every-race guys who have huge piles of
brand new race gear, total lifestylists---who've never done em
either---and not even the Birkie! I like local action myself but darn
if you're a ski bum you really need to do the Birkie and if you live
near the north, get yer butt up to the Keski and CSM also. I bet
they're lovely events and cultural settings. Getting more good media on
them out there might help get more ski bums to check em out. --JP
